    Why does this happen?

I just don't get how a person with a two handed weapon in their hands throws punches? I mean both hands should be on the weapon.... can someone explain this to me?

    Example:

SMAK screams in agony as the strike causes him to drop his weapon!
SMAK quickly picks up his SOULWOOD GREAT AXE from off the ground!

EL STUPIDO dances and hops around SMAK.
EL STUPIDO uses his razor sharp DRACONIC EPEE to wildly strike at SMAK.
EL STUPIDO tries to fake SMAK out with a few twirls of his weapon! (-Feint-)
EL STUPIDO's DRACONIC EPEE tastes victory and inflicts magnificent wounds on SMAK's mouth! (+229 Damage)

    >> SMAK SWITCHES TO STRATEGY 2

SMAK appears very concerned with his physical state!!!
SMAK lets forth the roar of a lion and prepares to leave it all on the sands! (-Last Stand-)
SMAK pelts furiously around the arena.
SMAK storms EL STUPIDO and looks to destroy his opponent.
SMAK's FIST connects with EL STUPIDO's solar plexus causing magnificent wounds! (+88 Damage)

Now i know he had his two-handed weapon his hands cause he just picked it up off the ground, so why does it seem my glad has a 3rd arm that he likes to punch with????

Sure, let's say you and your opponent during the course of the fight get in real close or lock weapons, now you don't have room to swing your weapon so you instead throw a punch, elbow or headbutt. It's like in MMA, if the fighters get in too close they can't really kick or make big swings, so they resort to knees and elbows, tight uppercuts and the like.
