analyzing the top 40

The other kind of list you could make for Primus if you want something similar to what you had with the Top 40 is you could do it by win percentage but only include gladiators who have more than 1000 or 1500 fights total. The reason for the fight prereq is many new Primus glads haven't had the pleasure of their records being destroyed yet by the love and joy that is The Primus so it wouldn't be good to include them yet until they've been properly welcomed. Looking at the Primus glads somewhere between 1000-1500 fights would work. 1000 is probably too low, I'd set the entrance to be between 1250 and 1500. Then sort them by win percent (might need to use 2 or 3 decimal places to prevent too many ties).

I like this idea, i was thinking something like this: better than 58%wl and more than 1000 fights max 40 in the list. atm 28 gladiators fits the requirments. Instead of decimal places use most wins as a tie breaker?.
Any other ideas of how to do a list? it should reflect some relevant information on how the game develop. Maybe something that includes races?

by that, Kharn would have been in the top 40 (minus the being in primus bit haha)

it could work, but older glads are going to have a tanked w/l as they were the experiments for the game, and had very rocky beginnings, unlike these newer glads.

I'd still go with win/loss percent because if you use total wins it gives an advantage to older glads for just being around longer when it is really irrelevant since every glad in theory will be level 50 and skill capped on that list. I'd just go with the total number of fights as the prereq and as more glads hit the primus and meet the prereq the poor performing glads will be pushed off the list naturally, besides who knows if 58% will even be attainable later on down the road...

Not that we didn't love Kharn ;), but another prereq should be that you are in the Primus bracket.

I'd probably just stay top 50 or top 25 myself.

58%wl would be kinda weird, a full one half of the current top 15 don't have that high of a win loss, hell the higher you get the more likely you are to get losses as they top is full of good glads.

we already have the ranking of who is consinder the best gladiators in the game, if im gonna spend time making a ranking it would be to rank other achievments.
Haveing the best w/l ratio is just one thing that might be considered interesting to follow. An other aspects might be to rank the different races. Yet an other thing might be to rank the last months performance.(but I think that would be to time consumeing for me)

Ya i see what you mean about time consuming, what sucks is give me 5 mins with the database of this game and i could easily make stored procedures to pull this info back for us and throw it up on a web page, simple things like:

Number of each fighting style in each bracket
Number of each race in each bracket
Number of glads duel wielding in each bracket
Number of glads using a shield in each bracket
Number of glads using a two handed weapon/Polearm in each bracket

Top 40 by win loss with over 1000 fights
Top 40 by win loss with over 1000 fights by fighting style

Top 10 highest str Gladiators
Top 10 highest int Gladiators
Top 10 highest agi Gladiators
Top 10 highest sta Gladiators
Top 10 highest siz Gladiators
Top 10 highest pre Gladiators
Top 10 highest chi Gladiators
Top 10 total stats Gladiators

A metrics web page with that type of info i think would be a great discussion starter :)

It took 3-4 hours the first time i did the number crunching. i gave up the 2nd time when i was comparing to the previous month because of the extra manual entering involved nearly doubled the time taken.

not much of an analyzis but rather just some number from the blood gods. numbers are taken 03.14 0950 am (oslo). sorry about that I couldnt make it easier to read :(

This is such a great game for statistics, but I think it has to be built into the game like Cyn suggested. I appreciate your want to do it, Oedi, but it would be nice to not just see the top 25-50 but all glads in various categories. Anyhow, Oedi, anything you add as far as statistics and evaluation is awesome.
