A lot more than just a gladiator's attributes factor into how much damage is dealt and there are numerous reasons the above result could happen. For example perhaps his style had an advantage vs your style, lucky rolls on his part and unlucky rolls on yours, skills, crit effects, etc. Right off the bat his hit drops your defense and then he uses the feint skill thus lowering your defense again for a big hit which in turn prevents you from defending and then a short time later you're brought to the ground by barreling attack and for the rest of the fight you're on the ground with your defense penalized, you are unable to defend yourself and then you are stunned before the last big hit. It doesn't take too much to smash a prone defenseless stunned guy! ;)

Looks like WEHRMACHT got caught up in a crit combo cascade and couldn't get out from underneath it in time. The good news is you'll likely do it to somebody else in the near future! :)

I've got several more like the two above, from various gladiators, all beginning this morning. It seems either very, very unfortunate that ALL of my gladiators are getting "really unlucky" in their tavern battles, or there's something amiss.

I've got one in which a Level 7 Thug slaps my gladiator for +272 damage, ending the fight in 5 seconds. That's Grom Ironjaw type damage :)

At any rate, going 68 rounds with a Tavern Ogre does seem a bit extreme, don't you think??

Thanks for the extra info. The current success rate for the arena in winning tavern contracts is a little more than 80% which is about where I would expect it to be. I can't say for certain what might be happening with your guys. It is possible there is a bug, or it's possible you are just in a low point right now. In any case I'll make a note to check things out and make sure nothing is out of the ordinary.

One thing that might help shed some light on recent events is tavern opponents are gladiators just like any other gladiator. They have a level, skills, fighting styles, etc. They are generally weaker in regards to attributes and lower level but at some point they too can have many trains in a certain skill or their weapon and that will allow them to go Berserk and get a good hit in, or go Total Parry and extend the length of the fight out as you experienced. Overall though it is my hope that the player wins a lot more than he loses and the current percentage shows that to be the case but as I mentioned earlier, I'll be sure to look into this for you and if there is a problem I'll let you know. :)
