Do you keep dying? If so, you'll keep having death sickness. Upgrade your Undertaker and you won't have to worry about it anymore.
If your gladiator died and continued to have death sickness for three days that would be a bug which would be surprising as that code hasn't been touched in years, but anything is possible. As Dainoji pointed out, every time you rez the death sickness counter starts again. It may be that you've had a streak of bad luck on that front. If you believe you only died and rezzed the once and had death sickness for numerous days let me know and I'll take a look.
