I've recently started playing, and I am coming to grips with it pretty well I think. I've sold off all my starting gladiators apart from one for some with superior stats. However, having read a few threads on what others deem to be acceptable stats, I am wondering how long it takes to find these super-statted gladiators?

I check every day for new slaves, and it is very rare to see a gladiator available with any stat of 80 or more, although from what I've read, most people say that you need an 80 or two, with the rest 70s or high 60s. My new gladiators, who only have a handful of losses between them, are:

74 70 61 66 77 72 73, rage dual-wield maces
71 76 61 74 68 81 71, war 2h
67 69 54 82 77 73 49, war polearms

which I think are pretty good overall. I am happy with them, but I am wondering if they are going to be competitive at higher levels? My sole remaining original gladiator, with all stats around 60, is lvl 9 war, mace & shield, with 19-1-0 record.

Are stats really all-important? How long do people wait for these mythical beasts with stats like 80 70 70 70 80 70? Do those of you who own gladiators like this often pay extra trophies to see multiple batches of slaves in a day?

when im looking for a decent slave I'll generally throw a few trophies into the hunt. a lot of its patience tho. stats are really important and building the best possible with the best stats you can find is very important IE if you have a glad with 90 str and 90 int he's going to be pretty good at Create Distance. INT 90 and AGI 90 he'll use feint more often.

Thanks for your reply.

90? Wow. I haven't even seen a gladiator with a single stat of 90, and I check daily on 3 separate accounts. I guess I've only been here for about 10 days though. I'll keep looking.

well tbh I havent seen 2 90's yet >.< and ive only seen 1 slave worth over 1000gold, my best glads have 3-4 stats in the 80's and the rest mid to low 70's oh and low presence because the enforcer shouldent ever save the defeated ^_^

Oh cool well that's slightly less depressing then. :D I'll just keep waiting for one with 2 or more 80s.

I like your thoughts on presence too, it does seem a bit strange to me that the enforcer saves so many from death. I reckon it would be cool if gladiators permanently died when they're killed. There's probably a thread on that somewhere already though.

I've never seen a gladiator with 3-4 stats in the 80s. My 'best' usually have one stat in the 80's and the core stats in the 70's (if im lucky).

Either I'm less lucky than most, or they are full of shit. I've blown serious trophies to get the few gladiators I have. Slave selection is really the game early on.

Agreed getting saved due to high presence sounds like bullshit in my ears when my glads die i dont sell them but im not bringing them back to lvie atm either xD (Most of mine have rly low presense btw xD)

My 2 glads im happy with are Laharl (war) with 68 85 75 73 74 53 61 he was found with trophies and Nurarihyon (rage) 76 69 67 57 89 63 78 which i found normally.
So its possible to find a decent glad without trophies if u wait long enough :P
Ive seen about 4 glads that cost over 1000 gold but 3 of them didnt have stats i wanted like presence of 93 but a size of 57 lol

It is no longer a wonder that Eternal is so outclassed.

Sephiroth has been the most marketable glad I've seen so far on my journey.... Costing 979 gold stats as follows 85,64,72,77,78,52,54!! The strength had me at hello.. And his size far outweighs the stat sitting at 7'1 368 pounds!! He's a monster who has taken many heads during his short period on the sands.. Am still looking for my number 2 though!!

Thunder Lips is my original gladiator, so probably somewhere around high 800gp for cost. Your strategies and skill selection are far more important than the cost of your slave. A better slave will make things easier early on, but that alone won't spell success. Aside from some exceptions like a really low size gladiator you can be successful with most slaves if you know what you are doing.

Eternal struggles because he rose very rapidly and is fighting gladiators many levels above him who are also managed by the best players in the game.

Great attributes will always lead to a great gladiator, ONLY if his build is suited to those great attributes. Of course a 975 slave should be better then an 875, but only if he built to get the most out of his attributes.
A gladiator with amazing attributes can easily be undone by poor weapon choice and skills as well as not finding what strategy works well for that particular gladiator.

For instance would you pick this as a slave if offered? 61-50-64-63-88-77-74 He's weak, dumb, slow, zero stamina, is big..and has ok presence and ok Chi. Those are Power Slave's original attributes.

I think people get to tied up in attributes when they should be more concerned with building around the attributes they have. It is the attributes that determine what your slave should become rather then trying to force him to become what you want to build.

My glads have so so starting attributes..far from what I think most would believe they started with...same with some of the older glads..since we were still just getting the feel of how the game functioned.
Once that 2nd and 3rd wave of newer glads entered did managers start heavily recruiting stud attributes....and as you can see, many of them have daded away or been killed off due to bad design and skill choice.
