Greetings Pit Masters!
There have been some changes to the fight engine, please see below for details:
- Off-hand weapons
Previously off-hand weapons didn't attack very often, this has been changed so you will now see a lot more off-hand attacks. If your gladiator is using a 2H weapon or Pole Arm, nothing will change, you will not find him attacking more often with his off-hand fist.
In addition, your initiative and number of attacks takes into account your off-hand weapon whereas before it did not. Gladiators most likely to see the affects of this will be the ones with a fast weapon in their main hand and a slow weapon in their off-hand.
Gladiators using a weapon in their off-hand that they are not trained to use will suffer penalties to their initiative and number of attacks, however they will still get the benefit of any mods the weapon has on it.
- Fighting Style Change
Counter Attack now works closer to a tit for tat (i.e. 1 hit to his 1 hit) type of deal instead of simply allowing the gladiator to match the number of attacks of the opponent. It will not however give you the same number of attacks as your opponent, you will still be limited by your attributes, weapon speed, etc.
- Changes for attribute behavior.
In addition to what they already do the following have been added:
- Chi
* Can help increase your chances for critical hits.
* Can help decrease the disadvantages of being blinded.
- Presence
* Can help increase your chance to kill your opponent.
* Can help increase your initiative.
- Intellect
* Can help increase your chance to get up if prone.
* Can help increase your chance to pick up your weapon if disarmed.
- Size
* Smaller than average gladiators now get a slight defensive bonus.
- Number of Attacks per Round
The number of attacks a gladiator gets per round has been reduced slightly (equally for everyone) which will have the result of making some fights go one or two more rounds and thus make stamina and endurance more important.
- Passive Skill Output Messages
Some of you have noticed that a few of the passive Rage skills would indicate when they helped. Originally I thought this would be beneficial, but not all Passive skills work in such a way that a message would be useful (i.e. a passive skill that adds to offense all the time for example), and something like Called Shot could easily have a message print out but then it started to get very spammy therefore no passive skills will print out a message however they are still all working in the background "passively".
Good Luck in the Pit!
