Item bug?

Ive been in squids gauntlet and for the last....20 times ive had the excpetinal item bonus on easy mode...is this a bug? or am i just lucky?

Or it may be because my gladiator has a really good amount of chi or something due to item bonuses and i invested in luck for the achievements...
