Anyone know how Extra Armor rank works? If I have +67 extra armor, does that mean all my armor pieces are considered at +67 of their stated value? Is it a percentage increase out of 1000 - so 67 rank = 6.7% increase? And in your experience, is it effective stacking extra armor rank?

1000 rank is 10-20% armor increase but I may be wrong. I remember before it was possible to see your actual armor on your items when you have extra armor rank in the same way you see now how your weapon damage changes when you have extra damage. Maybe I don't remember correctly or maybe the armor item value is now hidden or maybe it is not working. Not reporting as bug since I'm not sure what is the case.

As example Ancient Saber of the Blood Gods is 309 - 515 base damage. With 52 extra damage rank is 314 - 524 damage. With 1000 rank it probably will be about 409 - 695. If the weapon has lower base the increase will be lower.

If extra armor rank works in the same way it will be of great importance to have base armor as high as possible if you are going to stack extra armor rank. That's the reason I suggested 196 armor all around in another thread. There is no point to put medium armor and stack extra armor rank.

Just got the 500 armor achieve on arrrrrgh. I'll keep tabs the next few days and try to figure out what effect it has.

Its one of the winning the bloodgames several times ones, i think 10 wins?

Curious to see how that works out, you'd think that be as effective as wearing heavy armor, but with out loosing any of the speed... ouch. :)

Damn I thought there was 1 more fight...I really should stop mixing up the 2 days, close call for arrrrgh though ;)
I do wonder how that +500 armour works out, but i figure any +500 ranking is better than +8 agility or so exept for life protection :p

And it's 6 times total cyn, less impressive than 10 but still impressive :p

Getting it 15 times is the ultimate goal, that one gives +833 block rank :)

+833 block rank...that just seems unfair. Who would ever beat that glad? He could fight naked and still win:)

There should be a stipulation that if they win that prize, they are not allowed to fight in blood games anymore...otherwise no one else would ever win!!!

Consider this Adoede, 15x first place wins means 15 months of winning the bloodgames. That's 1 year and 3 months of having to get into first place :p

You do realise that Amon Djinn won 3 outof 4-5 (not sure) matches he's had against Arrrrgh? :)
Besides there's the balancing pass, who knows...maybe those gladius won't be as effective anymore :p

Just noticed but Belca has 97 armour rank and his orange heavy armour sits at 196 armour rating, Asatsuo with 0 armour rank has the same armour rating.

Thanks Prinny. I did notice that too - that extra armor rank bonuses don't show up anywhere visibly. I just assumed that since each rank has a max of 1000, it represented a percentage. So a 97 rank would be a 9.7% boost in your armor effectiveness. At least that's how block rank seems to work - a 300 block rank seems to result in about 30% block rate. So I figured the others were also by percentage too.

Anybody have any empirical evidence to back that up or discredit it?

Given that the "rank" bonuses are expensive, I seriously doubt that 1000 extra armour rank gives just +1/3 armour. Judging from the general performance of the other "extra ranks", 1000/1000 indeed seems to be 100%. Of course, there might be a more complex formula behind these values.

Before the actual armor you have on your items was visible.
I saw it on someone gladiator who had extra armor.
The increase was definitely under 20%.

Was that because their extra armor rank was ~200? That would make sense. If their extra armor rank was 1000 and they only got less than a 20% bump, that would suck.

SOTC, any news about how 500 extra armor rank effected the amount of damage Arrrrrghpirate took in fights? Was it reduced by half? More? Less?

I just got a new handaxe with extra damage bonus on it. It actually changes the damage values for my axe when I equip and when I un-equip.

Un-equipped:
207-335 Damage
474.2 per round

Equipped:
213-344 Damage
486.7 per round

My extra damage rank is 88.
If you take the difference of the damage per round (12.5) and divide it by 474.2 (the original damage number) you get 2.64% increase in damage. That is 30% of 8.8.

In other words, a 1000 rank in extra damage seems to increase your damage by 30%...as Pit Lord has been trying to tell us.

Gotta say, I'm surprised by that. The effect in battle of ranks seems waaay bigger than that. But can't argue with the facts...
