It looks like my freshly decapitated (by King Chothao no less) gladiator has no issues walking around the sewers and gutting Flesh Eaters. He even seems bit more efficient, maybe the coffin provides extra armour. Anyway, this is probably a bug, hence the section in the forum. :p

Conquests are not "real time" in that it is assumed they are taking place at some point in time but maybe not right now. This is why you can fight in the arena while a gladiator is doing a conquest or why a gladiator can actually be an ally in multiple conquests.

Addressing your bug, did your gladiator die and then was able to START a conquest, or was he already in the process of a conquest, died in an arena challenge and continued hacking away in the Underbelly?

He was in the middle of the dungeon when he got killed in the Arena Challenge.
