I've read a good deal of post & threads on the forum, but had something happen today that has me puzzled.
My highest level gladiator hit level 25 today.
Ranking is 1st in Juggernaut.
Record is 111-44-2.
On his Overview page, to the right of his exp. bar has appeared *Retire?* (in green)
it is click-able, but I'm not sure if I should try it.

I though retiring a gladiator came at lv. 50.
What are my options in this?

you can click "Retire" it just show in a new window what conditions your gladiator have to meet to retire him

Hahaha, I just encountered this myself, I pulled up my pants and, trembling, clicked the *retire?* button where it showed me the wonderful world of retirement requirements xD Needless to say, I was both relieved and annoyed :p
