Giving up on a gladiator?

What are some rules of thumb on when to give up on a gladiator, sell him/her and buy a new one?
Win/loss record at a certain level?

For instance, moving from Champions to Legends, what would be a good win% to have for a gladiator to get to retirement and get a HOL slave?

If you plan your challenges well and keep your weapons updated you should not have too much trouble keeping a record over 50% so you can retire a glad.

That said, if your glad is at Legends level, you're just starting to get to the more difficult glads...so if your ratio is below 50% at this level you might want to think about giving up on that glad and starting over with a better one. Sometimes a glad with decent stats just doesn't fight well (perhaps luck is poor).

Thanks Adoede. My wife has one with good stats(that I play more often than she does) that went into Champions at 75%, is still in Champions and is now less than 50%. Likely as much a combination of getting there too fast with not enough skills, and being relatively new at the game.
