counterstrike and shields

Does anyone know if you get the bonus from shields while using counterstrike or does it only work with parry styles? I don't know why but for some reason I was thinking I heard counterstrike and shields do not mix.

Shields work with CS, Chuck Norris used both with pretty good results.
