Defense vs armor

Anyone have any idea about how a point of defense helps vs a point of Armor?

In addition, what are the differences in general - as they pertain to POW?

To be perfectly honest, I have absolutely no clue.

I just imagine 1 armor = 1 def, and the difference being defence avoids attack while armor lowers damage. But I can be totally wrong ofc.
