Just wondering what the people behind the stables get up to for a living and do to relax etc.

I myself live in Australia and am a university student. I've been for far longer than I anticipated, started off in an engineering/science double degree, and gradually moved towards environmental science.

I've worked as a tour guide for the Australian Institute of Sport, and been a casual sales assistant at a departments store and a hobby store (Games Workshop). I also worked as a crowd controller for many years, running security for concerts and festivals. It was pretty fun, but I've had to give up working nights. I was a paintball referee/gun technician as a weekend job for many years too. Currently I work at a science museum, which is pretty awesome :)

For fun I play Magic the Gathering and the odd bit of D&D. I seem to have a rather unhealthy obsession (for my wallet) with collecting cards I dont use and building paintball markers. When inspiration strikes I also like to convert Warhammer miniatures, but fat chance that I'll ever finish painting them :P I'm also planning the next stage of my watercooled PC build, which should be fun :)

Funny that, I'm from Melbourne.

Was working overseas a few yrs ago, currently back home in Oz, but hoping to go overseas again if I can get a good job posting. I don't like staying cooped up in one place all my life.

Only have one stable of the same name, so I don't know how some managers can keep track of so many different glads, it'll be a headache for me if I tried that for sure.

Everyone calls me Buzz and i'm from Illinois, i work construction building pole barns (I'm the Polebarn Ranger). When i'm not climbing on a wooden jungle gym hitting my thumb with my hammer i am a musician, a family man, and lazy.

I have 5 stables (I didn't know that there was rules about how many stables we could have legally) and i'm currently trying something new. I'm gonna kill the glads off in 4 stables and only play one stable per month in a leapfrog fashion to focus on strats and rebuilds. I think not having 9 of my guys competing for 40th place will help me and everyone else stay interested also. I however, do predict that the SevenSeas will rise soon and start giving you boys and girls a heck of a time trying to keep your glads away from the healers:o

Been a professional mechanic for about 6.5 years now, ASE certified in steering and suspension and brakes. I live on top of a bar with one of my best friends with whom ive lived with in total for about 4 years. Zombie is another close friend of mine. If im not playing video games, im passed out in my recliner. Love all types of music, mostly into industrial, hard electro, things of that nature. metal as well, but as the years go by, thats kind of phasing out. Im also a completely unaccomplished artist. Im a rage specialist, always trying to break different aspects of the game.

anyhow, if anyone has any car related questions other than, "my car doesnt run, whats wrong with it?" feel free to ask :)

im totally not good at this kind of stuff.

Hey Everyone,
I live in Baytown Texas, which is just east of Houston. I am 34 years old and married with two ACTIVE boys ages 7 & 8. I have been married for over 11 years to a beautiful Mexican girl. Unlike alot of folks here I have never been a "gamer" This is really my first game to get into. I work a rotating shift schedule 4 on 4 off rotating between days and nights. They are 12 hour shifts. My job is an Operations Supervisor for a Dewaxing plant in one of the largest petrochemical refineries in the world. I am about to get to the 12th year mark of employment, YAY!!

For my hobbies, geez where do I start. When my wife (a bi-lingual kindergarten teacher) and kids are at school, I constantly train for tri-athlons, so I am either swimming, running, or biking. Also I train 3-4 times a week in Jui-Jitsu and MMA. Also enjoy playing golf, when my schedule allows. When I do play I maintain a single digit handicap. Then the rest of my day starts when school ends and I spend the rest of the day helping the boys with there homework, getting them ready for their extra curricular activities. Then after that help maintain the house in some semblance of order. So yes I'm exhausted when I go to bed each night, but I would not have it any other way.

From Sweden, but moved to Los Angeles about 15 years ago. Studied film/video in Chicago which is the field I work in. Mostly do jobs as camera operator, but also shoot smaller features films. It's a freelance business so there is a certain lack of security...no 12 years on the job for me. I travel a bunch which used to be fun, but I have two awesome kids, girl 10 and a boy 6 ( who scored his first goal in his soccer league today...and that is more exciting, believe it or not, than getting a monster HoL slave) who I like to say goodnight to every night.

For fun I play street hockey with a bunch of swedes and much like Crow, I spend as much time with my kids as possible. The good thing about my job is that I get chunks of time where I'm unemployed and can be a dad full time to make up for the time that I spend on the road.

Damn crow...congratulations, i think you have the perfect life...fun, fun...career...fun...kids fun...punch a guy in the balls...fun...sleep...wake up...start over.
I've always wanted to be a pro, semi-pro fighter but it didn't work out for me...just didn't get there somehow. It's in my bones tho. Now i work, I'm Dad, and a husband. And being 31 years old and a smoker it doesn't seem to be in the cards for me to start training seriously...maybe that's why I'm so drawn to this game.
Any ways...do we have any other musicians in the gang? I was thinking of writing a tune....an anthem of the arena...a battle cry! I'll see if i can come up with something some time and post it.

Nate: Hello, My name is Nate.

Everyone: Hi Nate.

Nate: And I'm a game programmer and entrepreneur...I tried to quit on my own but I just couldn't...something kept gnawing at me from the inside everytime I tried to walk away I... *sniff* *sniff*

Helpful Man: It's ok man, we've all been there, take a moment.

Nate: *sniff* whew...this is harder than I thought...as I was saying I tried to quit but everytime I would sit down at my computer it was like I couldn't help myself, I'd try to just surf the net or waste time on facebook, I mean I even tried reading Fox news...but next thing I'd know I'd wake up with drool on my desk, look at the clock and see hours had passed and 1000 of lines of code had been written. I can't even remember doing it. That's when my friends had an intervention and suggested I come here.

[many people offer their words of encouragment and support]

Helpful Man: You're with friends now, we'll help you. We've all been there. What game were you making that kept calling you back?

Nate: It's called Pit of War, where you forge slaves into gladiators, gladiators into gods...gods who call you Master!

Everyone: Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Helpful Man: Wow that sounds like an awesome game, is it online right now?

Nate: Yes...

Helpful Man: I can crush my enemies?

Nate: Yes, but...

Helpful Man: See them driven before me?

Nate: Uh...yes, but...oh no, please don't *sniff*

Helpful Man: And hear the lamentations of their women?

[Nate falls back into his seat]

Nate: ...it really is what is best in life isn't it?

Everyone: YES!

Helpful Man 2: What the hell are you doing here? I've got a level 50 waiting on the new skill trees and WTF is up with Conquests?

Helpful Man 1: Conquests? That sounds awesome, almost like I can take my ass kicking across the world to anyone who might stand in my way!

Helpful Man 2: Yeah, you should see the Great Realm, the place is brutal!

Helpful Man 1: Oh man, I can't wait to give this game a try.

[Everyone looks at Nate and grins. Before Nate can react...]

Helpful Man 2: Quick! Everyone get this man a computer, someone order a Pizza, you there in the blue shirt bring in the caffine IV drip, and you by the door....Lock it!

Hey All,

I live in Canada, am 35 years old, have been married to an American girl for almost 3 years, and have an 8 year old son. We also have 3 dogs - a spaniel, a chi-poo, and a coonhound.
I'm a chemical engineer and have been in the cement industry for about 12 years. I started as the lab chief and then moved into process engineering - commissioning a new milling line and kiln cooler and burner system, and also taking over the environmental responsibilities. A few years back I moved over into the service side - essentially a travelling engineer "on loan" to help customers out with concrete mix designs, troubleshooting, QC/QA, specifications, etc.
I've grown up with video games, but have never been a hardcore gamer. I also enjoy running, chess, hiking, and swimming - most of those with my family of course!

Jerimy here. 30something year old US Army vet. Spent 6 of my younger years in the 1st of the 3rd 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment. Been out for long enough now to miss it a little bit, a very little bit. Hehe.

I now live in sunny Tampa Florida where I work as 1; An RV park maintenance man 2; A canoe/Kayak river guide on the beautiful Hillsborough River, everyone loves the alligators 3; A very part-time Dive Master in the Florida Keys. To help offset the cost of my frequent trips down there to pursue my main hobby, SCUBA Diving.

Been marred for a little over 6 years now. No kids, due to the lovely Anthrax vaccine I was given in my Army days. But that leaves me a lot of free time to play POW, a few other games and enjoy the great outdoors. When I'm not underwater, SCUBA Diving, or on the water, canoeing, I play games. All kinds of games. Table Top, Role Playing, Video games, Card games (Poker mostly), drinking games Etc.

Been playing POW for awhile now, but just got onto these forums this week. Right now I'm jazzed about my first HoL glad, Lady Hulk. She's, hopefully, currently on a run for a record wins with 0 losses. Up to 53-0-2 atm, still has a long way to go but I'm dumping a bunch of gold into gear for her to keep the dream alive. ;)

I know I made a post already, but I just read everyones post, and decided to make a more fulfilling post. Some of you have really interesting lives.

Somewhat like crow, but not quite, he has a mexican wife, I have a mexican fiance. I've only got just over two years with her, and she is by far the most beautiful woman I've ever layed eyes on. I've never had a really interesting job though, I'm a laborer, I have a journeyman roofer's liscence, I did that for five years *commercial roofing, not residential*.

After that my life just became a mess of jobs here and there, getting whatever took me in first, seasonal, 2 or 3 month jobs, whatever. I've been a lime kiln operator in a factory, a filter operator working for the same factory, a lumberjack, I worked for a backhoe company, helped with ceptic tanks, and running lines for the cow's drinking water, a sprinkler system installer, I've done field work, where all we did was go up and down these long rows picking weeds to disperse them away from the plants *spinache, lettuce, and such, I was the only white boy out there, everyone else was mexican and my nickname was que pacho which is white boy in spanish*, I worked for these one ladies planting tree's, I've also worked at a sugar plant and pulled what was called totes, and I've been a furniture delivery boy, and right now I'm a heavy equipment operator, I run a loader, and my shift is rotating, days, swing, graves, 7 on 3 off 7 on 2 off 7 on 1 off, back to day shift, but am now finally looking at prospects of working at another plant I found in the town that I actually want to live in, it sounds like my shot at getting the job is good. :)

Most of my life I've lived in Montana, sometimes I've lived in California, Nevada, Colorado, and Idaho. My fiance *I just gave her the ring and popped the question last christmas*, and I have been saving up for the down payment on a house, and now we have enough, I just need a job where we are going which will be in Montana, and I believe I'm getting close to this goal, I met her in Nevada, and after that I'll be working on getting a pre authorized first time house owner loan so that we can get everything together. I'm 30, she's 33.

Once we move in together is when we plan to marry. She has children that I've enjoyed having the company of, and they are a lot of fun. :)

When I was younger I was a black belt in judo, I got to brown belt in Tae kwon do, and I did six months in Muay Thai. About that time I was starting to get a bit advanced, and I started looking at some of the more advanced people, people who literally had their nose so out of place it looked like a dimple on their cheek, missing teeth on people, and just messed up looking shit, so I decided I went far enough and got out.

My fiance is bi lingual as well, she's teaching me spanish slowly, my favorite phrase I've had her teach me is que la fuerza este contigo mi amigo, which means may the force be with you my friend. :)

There's only been a few games I've found an interest in on the internet, my first addiction was Kings of Chaos, but it has lost it's flavor in the past few years. My newest one is PoW.

For some things I do I'm completely impatient, but for some other things I'm the most patient person you'll ever meet.

As for hobbies, I used to spar with some of my friends quite often, but we don't do that so much anymore, in fact that used to be my favorite pass time. I've been getting lazier about working out and eating right over the years, but whatever. I like to play games sometimes, I've never really had any actual life goals until I met my girl who is by far the most amazing woman I've ever met, one of my hobbies I suppose would be see her as often as possible and get intimate, I love doing what I can for her. Yep... hobbies, I do like teaching her kids everything I can, it's fun to see them learn. Ummmmm, christ, since I met her I don't have much for hobbies, I work, I play this game, I hang out with her and the kids. *nods knowingly* yea :)

Also a fan of Final Fantasy! I still own a regular nintendo with final fantasy one, I have a super nintendo with final fantasy 3, my playstation broke, but I have a playstation 2 that does play playstation one games with final fantasy 7, final fantasy 10, and I didn't go any farther than 10. And I like movies, my favorite movie is called Ravenous. And unless the newer ones are worse, the worst final fantasy game ever made was final fantasy 9, what a joke. I also had a sega genesis at one time, but there was only one game I ever got addicted to on that system, it was called warsong, which I don't have anymore, but I do have the game on my computer and once in a while play it. And a couple other games I've found myself addicted to in the past Diablo II, and Neverwinter nights.

I don't really expect my champions in this game to ever be on top, but it is nice to have some descent champions, which I feel myne are.

Hey all! I'm a relatively new player to the Pit with 2 stables, my main one: Nagolls Fate (my old one that I made almost 2 years ago, but left and recently returned to, :p it's a long story) and my new main one: Frostee Fyre. Thoroughly enjoying this game (when those danged 2h Rage glads don't send my glads to the grave :p ) and looking forward to being a part of the PoW community!

I am 19, a 2nd-year University student majoring in English with hopes and dreams to one day get a PhD in Library and Information Tech (in order to get into the Library system). As you can probably tell from my major and prospective PhD, I am an avid reader (my favourite genre being that of fantasy/action/adventure/epic sagas in general).

I also enjoy walks in the park, when I'm not plundering the corpses of my slaughtered foes in the Pits.

Looking forward to seeing/hearing from/battling all of you in the future!

Hey there guys,
My real name is Pedro Jorge (duh, I am not very imaginative with names). I just recently entered Biggest Hits in the Arena with my Glad Pedrojorge (gasp). I am currently taking my master's degree in Network Engineering and Computer Sciences (I think this is the translation). I am Portuguese (land of Cristiano Ronaldo as most of you should know). I honestly can say that I don't spend much time gaming, because I normally have alot of work in my studies or I simply just hang out with friends or go out. One of the things I love in this game is that you don't need to stay online 24/7. I also go to the swimming pool to exercise and I like to do some home routines like pushups and things like that (personal record is 45 pushups in a row, I am almost as strong as my rage glad ;) ). When it cames to RPG games I always prefer to be all melee with no magic, I also played dark souls 1 and 2 full melee. I used to play WoW as a warrior, but got fed up of the time I was pouring into it so I quit. When I discovered this game (melee based) I really liked it.

Hope to see you guys in the arena, and smash your faces with my axe...
See you in the Pit!

I'm not that new here, but I'll chime in too.

Work in real estate management; also working on some advanced degrees - which is where I started looking for something to give a little stress relief during long study sessions. Duelmasters used to be my favorite rpg game...but the two-week turnaround didn't help with stress relief much. Found this game and the daily pace was good for my purposes.

Currently, I run Adoede & Tevrosin stables.

Hi there. I hail from Europe's backyard, that cool place which outsiders usually associate with cheap alcohol, corruption, ethnic cleansing, beautiful women and emigrants - the Balkans. Bulgaria, to be precise. Registered nearly 4 years ago and got addicted almost immediately. I don't play MMOs in general, tried only 3 or 4 in total, so PoW is the only one which managed to hook me.

I work in the networking field - routing, switching, firewalls for enterprise customers and ISPs. I like my job but I'm not an IT person - I care little about technologies outside of my professional sphere, prefer to read history, novels, studies in the field of the humanities and such. Sitting on my ass in the office 5 days a week is hardly the healthiest thing for me so I regularly go to the gym after the end of the working day. I like to spend vacations in the mountain, away from the noise and pollution of the city. Generally prefer small companies of quality people to big loud "party" groups where you hardly know anyone.

Several years ago was actively playing a lot of games from multiple genres - RPG, RTS, TBS, you name it - but at one point time became scarce and nowadays I rarely got more than 1-2 hours per week for these things. One of PoW's main advantages in this regard is that you can play it in the office. :p I'm a big fan of the original Might & Magic universe as some might have deduced and have a soft spot for sci-fi + fantasy hybrids when they're done with style.

Initially I had a stroke of genius and named my first stable Kreegan. The second one - Hive - appeared when Nate boosted the speed of the game several times (in the early PoW it took more than an year to fully develop a gladiator). Later it turned out that the better gladiators are in my second stable and managing the both consumed too much time so I dropped the Kreegan crew. I typically prefer to design interesting fighters and the readily available "top builds" usually don't fall into that category. Never been good at managing Rages so most of my fighters throughout the years have been War and Theatrics. Now one Shadow is climbing the ranks too.

See you in the grinder. ;)

It seems I missed this thread too. So let me compensate. :)

I'm from Serbia, but I now live in Hungary. I study biology and I'm about to get a master's degree. My favorite subjects are biochemistry and biotechnology.
I hope I can find a job in my country though the government officialy hates and fears biotechnology :p

I like science fiction and fantasy, specialy the ones that make me think about a systems or philosophy. But I am an idealist and philosophy is a double edged sword for me as I can get realy depressed realy fast fom discussing it. :(
I also like physical activites. I used to do Judo until middle school, and I regularly go on orienteering competitions. When I have nothing to do I go to the gym.

I like animals and I want to get a pet as soon as I get finantialy independent from my parents. I would realy like a raven. Ravens are so smart and cool. If not I might try to domesticate a crow... Or just get a cat. Cats are cool too.

I started playing this game way back, then I quit, came back and quit again. Now I'm back for the second time and since I matured (and lost the time to play more time consuming games) I will stay.

Hi, I'm Julianna and I'm 22 from Canada. My friend Bigg BuZZ showed me this game, and I like it. I have had some trouble with being too wild in my past, and so right now I am slowing down and these games help. I like to bike, and go walking on trails with my parents. I live in my own apartment and like to draw pictures with coloured pencils. and play the piano. I am also half dutch and i like hockey (puck bunny ^,^).
Oh , and my people are JvM stable, and my favorite is JaZZY J because she bleeds people to death \^,^/

Hey All.

I'm Anthony from England. I'm a self employed odd job man who generally plays standard mmo's but me and my stable Chaos Vipers is having a great time in this game and I think it's more fun than anything I've played in years. It seems really well written and easy to get into and hooked!

I'm loving the range of gladiator styles even when my girls are being bored to sleep by a tank or spend the entire fight on the floor!

See you all in the pits!
