Newb question, again. (Death from above- War skill)

Hey, I started yesterday and I'm doing pretty okay I guess but I was wondering about a specific skill that seem strange to me...

So yeah, what's up with the death from above skill infos:

''Attacks to prone opponents deal more damage.''

Do I read it wrong or is it a skill to make your opponent(s) stronger... ¬¬
What does it really do? is it good ?

prone opponet means an opponent not standing or knocked to the ground.
death from above combines well with barreling attack. An attack that knocks your opponet to the ground.
