Gladiator ran away during tavern fight

Hi i was doing the Daily Contracts in the Tavern and on one of the jobs my gladiator just ran away even though he was winning -> the fight lasted for 3+ min during which my gladiator received like 5 dmg and had 250+ something life left and the opponent had only 15 life left ...

is this part of the game/luck mechanics or was there a glitch or something else? it wouldnt bother me much but since the difference in hp and given and received dmg points is quite big i thought i should post this ...

Without seeing the fight, I can't say for certain but most likely your gladiator was about to run out of endurance. That is another way a gladiator can lose a fight, so instead of passing out in the wilderness to be left at the mercy of the wolves your gladiator decided it was best to high tail it out of there.
