Races?

I keep hearing mention of different races on the guides within this forum, but I don't see races mentioned in-game, or options or attributes for different races on gladiators.

Was this an old feature that's been removed or am I missing something?

Edit: Just realised there is a selection on my overview screen where I can see the bonuses and penalties and change it for 65 trophies. am I to take it that on the slave market all slaves are human then, and the only way to change race is the 65 trophy route?

When you buy a slave you have to choose its class, then its race, then it's name. you would have chosen a race for your first glad... or quickly skipped through without reading to get to the action faster!

Your first glad is always Human if I remember correctly, likely to make the tutorial quicker and easier (Trugs are very hard to run at the early levels). When you get your next glad you'll have the option to pick your race.

Ah that makes sense. Cheers for the info. Now I want even more for a decent gladiator to appear in my slave market.
